CASE STUDY: Real estate industry (training program)
Development need
Training program for a large organization in the real estate industry, which we implemented in July-August 2021. We conducted trainings titled “Cultural competence — multinational teams and organizations, case study: India” for more than 100 employees in six groups.
The training program aimed to improve the intercultural competences of employees, with particular emphasis on Indian business culture. The key was to provide information to enhance cooperation with the business partner of India.
Activities
The training aimed to familiarize participants with the specificity of the Indian market and the corporate culture of Indian organizations. Before starting the training program, we analyzed the challenges faced by the participants. This allowed us to adjust the training to the needs of the target group.
During the training, examples of typical challenges in business relations with India were discussed. The exercises carried out during the training allowed participants to develop the skills to build relationships and maintain business contacts with business partners from India. It was also crucial to familiarize the people responsible for direct contact with local (Indian) representatives with techniques that enable effective communication using online tools such as email, instant messaging, and phone calls.
Result
As a result of the training, participants:
- gained practical information related to working with business partners from India
- became acquainted with the specificity of Indian business culture, which had an impact on a better understanding of everyday business situations (both in the stationary and online mode)
- are able to conduct effective communication with a partner from India with a proper understanding of his/her intentions
- are able to provide feedback and motivate colleagues from India
